Announcing 2nd Cornerstone Village in SE Wisconsin:
76th and North Avenue in Wauwatosa
Cornerstone Village located in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin will be an integrated residential and commercial Christian community that will welcome independent adults with developmental disabilities as well as young professionals and families, including people of all faiths.
This community, being developed in partnership with Luther Group, will include 92 apartments and 4 townhome units, not to mention a BMO Harris bank branch along with another retail space and an Innovation Center. 23 of the 92 units will be set aside at affordable rates for independent adults with developmental disabilities.
In addition to providing much needed market-rate rental units for the community, this development will be designed to provide opportunities for people with disabilities to:
- Learn valuable life skills
- Explore assistive technology to increase independence
- Potentially be employed in a community-based business.
A director of activities will be hired to create and customize events such as exercise classes, coffee hours, book clubs, faith groups and community service opportunities for residents of all abilities.
We are working with city officials, community groups, local school districts and many others to make Cornerstone Village-Wauwatosa a reality. Local parents and family advocates for people with disabilities are closely involved and providing invaluable support for the project.
With appropriate approvals, groundbreaking is tentatively scheduled for Spring 2022.
